Industrial design inspired by the origins of maritime trade
The concept of this pioneering cargo sailer takes us back to the roots of maritime trade. Where the propulsive power of the innovative dual sails is not enough, electrically driven propulsors are used. H2 fuel cells and deck-spanning photovoltaics provide the power. At 366m long, 49m wide and 68m high, the Vision Argo meets both the Panamax and Suezmax standards and can therefore be deployed on all major trade routes.
A fleet of 50 Vision Argo tankers would offset the annual global emissions of all cars. On its journey across the world’s oceans, the autonomous driving tanker leaves nothing but water vapour behind – and the odd rainbow.
